Parking: |
In the
winter, please park in the garage or in front of the small porch between the garage
and the main cabin. This allows the snowplow to turn around and to clear the
most area. |
|
Lights: |
In
general, the main light switches are lit when shut off. This
helps locate them at night. |
|
Main
entrance: |
The main
entrance to the cabin is on the left on the covered porch. The
porch lights are activated at night by motion detectors and should go on
automatically when they detect movement. |
|
Driveway
spotlight: |
The
driveway spotlight switch is to the left of the main door at foot level. We
have not been able to determine why the previous owners put the switch there. |
|
Kitchen/dining
area: |
The
kitchen light switch is a lit switch just to the right of the kitchen sink. There
light above the dining area is controlled by a timer. This
timer is located in the corner to the right of the table. Unplug
the timer and plug the light directly into the outlet. |
|
Great
room: |
The
great room lights and ceiling fan switches are half way up the spiral stairs on
the left. |
|
Loft: |
The
loft ceiling light switch is to the right of the bed. The
loft desk lamp and living room blue tulip light are controlled by a timer
behind the desk in the loft. Unplug
this and plug each into the outlet as desired. |
|
Basement: |
The
basement light switch is half way down the spiral stairs on the right. |
|
Heating
the main cabin: |
The
heating of the main cabin is greatly enhanced by using the ceiling fan. This
keeps the heat from rising to the ceiling
keeps the cabin even temperature even. The
master thermostat in the cabin is located at the spiral stairs. |
|
Heating
the loft: |
There
is a thermostat in the loft on the baseboard behind the head of the bed.
Generally this heater is not needed. |
|
Heating
the middle room: |
The
thermostat for the middle room is located on the wall just outside the master
bedroom. |
|
Heating
the master bedroom: |
The
thermostat for the master bedroom is located on the wall between the closets.
Note
that the actual temperature of the
room will be 25 degrees higher than the setting of the thermostat so set
the thermostat accordingly. |
|
Fireplace |
You
may choose to use the fireplace depending on your experience and comfort
level with them. |
|
The
basement wood stove |
The
wood stove in the basement provides additional heat for the cabin during
electrical outages. Using this stove keeps the living room and kitchen from
freezing. |
|

Dear
Guests:
If an accident happens, please telephone
us immediately so we can repair or replace the item before the next guest
arrives.
By
letting us know as soon as possible, we can plan the repair or purchase the
replacement item and be prepared to take care of it during the short time
between guests. If we discover an
accident during the time between guests it is very difficult to repair or
replace the item in time for the next guest.
Thank you for your support in keeping the
log home a refuge for our guests.
Please
mail this checklist back to me upon your departure.
Note: Closing down the Log Home generally takes two people 30 minutes. Please plan accordingly.
