Rounding the bend in the driveway to the cabin you see the views of the trees, rolling hills, and the pond. |

From the front porch you can hear the rushing stream and waterfall just below the cabin through the woods. |

The waterfall can be very invigorating in the winter! |

You may even catch a glimpse of the blue heron that visits the pond or a pair of geese pausing here during migration… |
|
…or you may see the flock of wild turkeys come visit the field and cherry tree and hawthorn tree. |

The pond is approximately
60' in diameter. It has a clay bottom and
is 12' deep in the center. It has newts, lots of
frogs, catfish, and a shy painted turtle who suns himself on his float. Our dog loves to swim in
the pond and we recently installed a 35' by 45' pond liner in the beach area
which really helps to keep the clay bottom from getting stirred up. Now the
water stays much more clear throughout the year. The 3' deep pool below the waterfall is always clear and cool and that is where I dunk to rinse off when cutting firewood or doing field work. |
